Glow In The Dark Saturday

Since it's now October and the month of Halloween, I'm sharing my mani from last week that I used my favorite glow in the dark nail polish for.  Before I used the GITD nail polish I used a white base coat, putting on 2 coats, and then I used about 3 coats of "Day Glow" by Serum No5. I absolutely LOVE this and it's been my favorite since I bought it last year. I saw it on a blog that I found in a google search and after desperately searching for it, I finally had found it!  Her etsy shop is here although she is currently on a vacation and her Instagram is here.

After my initial base coats, I wanted to do some stamping so I chose to do a splatter design from my big stamping template. I cannot remember what brand the plate is but I got it off of Amazon! First I started with using black but then thought "Wait, these are like blood splatters, so why not do red?" DUH. But I went with alternating from black and red since I already stamped my pinky with black. I used Pure Ice "Siren" for the red and the black was a stripper polish since I had forgotten that I haven't gone and bought a new black. The above picture is of my finished manicure after I went on my daily Starbucks run and came from right outside. Pictures never seem to do the nail polish justice but it is SUPER bright when you step into the dark from being outside in the sun.
This is the mani in the light and yes I am holding my Starbucks coffee cup! Here you can see the different alternating black and red polishes.
This photo is from a different mani that I did last fall with the same "Day Glow" polish except I put black stars on them.  I used to have those glow in the dark stars that you put on your ceiling as a kid and I thought that this would be the perfect nail polish to use to recreate that!

Weekly Nail Art Challenge

So I've been thinking throughout the day today and thought that it would be a really fun and cool idea to get a different nail art challenge every week.  I've seen a whole ton of amazing nail art designs and ideas posted all over the different social media websites and it's quite inspiring.  I do like doing nail art from time to time and think it would be great for my fellow (and future) followers to challenge me! Of course anybody can participate in the weekly challenges and I would love to feature some of the great creations that come out of it. I'm up for starting to receive all kinds of challenge ideas so don't be afraid to send me an email, a tweet, a comment, or an Instagram tag! If you tag me on Instagram, use the hashtag #highonpolishchallenge and I'll make sure to check out what people have been tagging! I will also do my best to try and get some video documentation of my attempts at these challenges as well even if they don't come out looking like the finished product! So excited to see what I get and when I decide what the first nail art challenge should be, I will post it and we will let it begin!

Friday's Outfit and Nails

Well Friday is finally here, thankfully, and I've taken the day to dress decently comfy! Mornings are a little bit chilly so I usually go ahead and throw some leggings on because, well, why not? Fall is definitely legging season and I'm quite glad that it's here since they seem to be a very accepting piece of clothing to constitute as pants.

Out of my huge handful of legging selections, I've decided to go with my light gray ones today which are from Old Navy. I swear they are almost like legging heaven since they seem to always have a large number of them.  To cover my feet I have on my knee high boots that sometimes fall down and I'm pretty sure that I bought them at Carson's last fall.

It may not be completely obvious yet but I am definitely a big Potter Head and Harry Potter fan and figured today would be a good day to wear my shirt. It's hard to tell from the picture what it says but it states that "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" and I got it from Hot Topic. Here is a link to the shirt in girls and here is one for the shirt in guys, just in case someone thinks they're guy friend, boyfriend, or husband needs to wear it!

Lastly, today on my nails I am wearing OPI "Koala Bear-y" which I partly used because I love the name and because I haven't worn it in a while. It's a nice pink and I love that one coat could most likely be enough but I like adding two coats just in case. I got this from Ulta a few months ago along with a couple other nail polishes. No nail art on my nails for me today but I'm hoping to try out some velvet nails that my lovely friend Ann Marie from Nski Beauty tried out a little while ago! Definitely excited for that but I'm not sure how excited I'll be when I'm trying to clean up but we shall see! Hope you guys have a good day and I'll hopefully be posting some more nail posts this weekend!

Who Am I?

Hey guys! I'm sure from my first blog post you have gotten a little insight on who I might be but I figured that it would be a little more helpful if I shared some information about myself. My name is Kristina and I'm 23 years old and right now I'm in my first year of graduate school at Roosevelt University. I'm going for my degree in Clinical Psychology there and I am also doing a substance abuse counseling program at another school. Don't worry I won't try to psychoanalyze you guys! My main purpose for starting this blog is to share my thoughts, photos, and ideas about my nail polish addiction. Though I will have to warn you that there will most likely be times where I'll post about some other stuff.  I've been wanting to get into blogging for a little while because I think it's a good way to connect with people in general and also with those who share your same interests.  Nail polish is also not one of my only addictions either believe it or not! I love Starbucks especially when there's a drive thru and it's right down the street from where I work, it's like a sign telling me to feed my addiction! I've never really been a book reader either until a few years ago my old friend got me into the book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (which I totally recommend!). She has a prequel series as well called The Infernal Devices and her books are definitely another one of my addictions. The first book in the TMI series has also been made into a movie which came out August 21st in the US, but depending on where you live, it may or may not (sadly) be playing.  Another subject that always catches my attention is the paranormal which I'm a huge fan of the TV show Ghost Hunters. Ghost hunting is absolutely scary to me since you're basically in the dark and yes, I'm terrified about what is IN the dark. I think it may go to show that I am not a skeptic when it comes to the paranormal but if you are, then that's okay! Doesn't matter to me what people do or don't believe in. I feel like I have gone over a good chunk of information about kind of who I am, but always feel free to ask me questions if you would like to! I have a link to my Instagram, Twitter, and e-mail on my page so don't be afraid to click any of them! Hope you guys have a good day and I will hopefully be able to post some nail pictures soon! <3

TAG - Common White Girl

1. Favorite Starbucks drink?
During the summer time and when the weather is warmer, I'll usually get a Venti Iced Skinny Vanilla latte and during the fall and winter I'll usually get..a Venti Skinny Vanilla latte with no foam of course. I mean if I'm going to pay $5 for a coffee you better believe I'm gonna get all that I can get.

2. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Usually it doesn't take me too long to get ready in the morning though I think what takes the longest is me trying to figure out what I should even wear. So I'll estimate about 15-20 ish minutes.

3. How many selfies do you take on a daily basis?
Not many at all. I'd say per week it's maybe about 5 if that but usually barely any make it past my photo gallery on my phone.

4. How many IG followers and pics do you have?
I currently have 513 followers and 1515 pictures.

5. Do you ever say "LOL" or "OMG" out loud?
I don't usually say "LOL" out loud but I know that I definitely say "OMG" but in the longer version in real life..mostly when I either see or hear something quite shocking.

6. Do you wear the same clothing item more than once?
Uhm yes, I am not a super rich celebrity who can afford to buy a different wardrobe every month nor I have won the lotto (yet, swear I'm trying).

7. Are you racist? (Why is this even a question)
No I'm not and really, the constant question is why is this a question?

8. How many tweets do you have?
Well right now I have 9,287 tweets which is kind of a lot.

9. Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr?
I do have Instagram and Twitter.  My Tumblr is basically nothing but reposts that aren't that often.

10. What do you spend most of your time doing?
When I'm not at work or at school or doing homework, I can be found watching TV, painting my nails, or reading and getting lost in my fantasy book world.

11. Who are your favorite youtubers?
I don't really have any favorite youtubers at the moment since I'm not always on youtube other than for watching music videos.

12. How often do you do your nails?
At least twice a week, sometimes more if I'm really bored and just feel like taking some me time and not doing any of the things that I'm really supposed to be doing.

13. Are you a shopaholic?
I wish I could afford to be one but sadly, I cannot.  I do like to buy things online since I don't have to deal with people that way but I try to not spend my whole paycheck in a couple of days.

14. How many times have you watched Mean Girls?
I've probably watched it a good handful of times but I don't go out of my way to watch it.  If it's on TV and I can't find anything better on then I'll watch it.

15. Do you own a lot of clothes?
Another "I wish"question! I feel like I have a lot sometimes but I'm going to go with I don't.

16. Do you take pictures of your food before you eat it?
Sometimes I do especially if it looks really super good!

17. Do you wear makeup everyday?
Oh no no no, not at all. I'm way too lazy for that especially when I'm not really going to anything exciting except work or school.

18. What are your average grades in school?
In middle school and high school they definitely weren't great but got better towards the end of high school. First semester of college was an epic fail but as time went on, I'm usually a B to A student with sometimes getting some Cs in the mix.

19. How do you usually style your hair?
It's either up in a ponytail with a headband on or it's down, clean, and straight.

20. Do you always look presentable?
Good joke! No not at all but I'm okay with that.
